Welcome back Bobcats, it's officially Flu season! With the weather changing and the temperatures dropping, we're all bound to come down with something whether it's the flu or a cold. With public places such as campus dorms, the library, the rec, and the shuttle, it's hard to avoid the germs. Here are some preventative tips we have to ensure you stay well this season!
1. Take Your Vitamins
These days, it seems as though vitamins come in every shape and form. Whether it be in capsules, juices, fruit, or drinks, it shouldn't be an issue in-taking your daily dose of vitamins! Looking for your vita fix in San Marcos? Check out our friends at Smoothie Warriors located at 330 N LBJ Dr! They have a delicious and healthy variety of wheat-grass shots, smoothies and juices packed with vitamins.
2. Disinfect Anything & EVERYTHING
Clorox Disinfecting wipes will be your best friend this season. Be sure to disinfect surfaces such as door knobs, TV remotes, keyboards, etc. When out and about, we're not saying to be THAT clean freak that's disinfecting the school library BUT be sure to carry some hand sanitizer with you at all times!
3. Sleep Enough
Lack of sleep can weaken your immune system. As simple as it sounds, sleep is really a key factor in staying healthy and can prevent you from getting sick. Yes we wanna Netflix & Chill, but from time to time, swap the Netflix and just chill. College kids could benefit from sleeping the most!
4. Carry an Emergency Kit
Keeping a health kit with you at all times can either prevent your sickness or lessen the severity of it. We suggest carrying a kit that includes: Kleenex pack, cough drops, cold medicine (pills), chapstick, vitamins, & sanitizer. This will come in handy as soon as you start to feel symptoms and you're not at home.
5. Hydrate
It seems as though water is the answer to everything...that's because it is!! Drinking water constantly flushes out all the toxins in your body. If you're looking for ways to spice your water up, try adding fruit such as lemon or strawberries to give it an extra kick.
